The camera on any smart phone is one of the key features that consumers want. So whether it is a single camera or a dual camera system on a phone, it should be able to capture clear, bright and sharp images.

Apart from some really good specifications, OPlus has also added two great cameras on their flagship smart phone that has multi functionality.  The first is the 8 MP camera on the back with LED flash and Auto focus and on the front, you have the sensors, earpiece and the 2 MP camera. The 2 MP camera has an aperture of F 2.8, you will need a stable surface to get a good shot for video calling.

The rear camera has an aperture of F 2.2 and can capture 1080 pixel videos in HD and the front facing camera can record 720 pixels videos. When you open the camera interface, the first thing you will notice is the picture or camera modes on the left hand side, where you will find the ‘face beauty’, ‘panorama’ and ‘Live Shot’ mode. The Panorama mode has been enabled with the angle shot, so you can capture panoramic shots from any angle.

On this same interface, you will also find quick toggle options that allow you to switch between both cameras, here you can also control the HDR mode and the Flash as well.

Under the settings, you have the option for controlling Geo Tagging right on top; in this same panel you can adjust the exposure, the white balance, and colour effect to your liking. The scene modes in the settings panel have more options added, like the Night Mode, Landscape/Portrait Mode, and Steady Photo etc.

The XonPhone 5 camera features an ‘Image Properties’ setting- this is something very similar to what you will find in DSLR cameras. This features enables you to capture flat pictures that have less contrast, saturation and sharpness- this is something that can edited to your liking later on instead of adjusting your settings just before taking a shot.

Pictures captured in this mode come out pretty decent and what’s more interesting is that you have this unique setting in the video mode as well.

In the tab marked ‘Picture Settings’, you can edit the zero shutter display, the face detection, smile shot and voice capture. The burst mode can capture either 40 or 99 shots continuously, with amazing speed. Under the Picture size mode, you will notice that you can capture 8 mega pixel shots in either the 4x 3 or 16x 9 ratios along with the ISO settings.

Moving on to video recording settings, you have the EIS (electronic image stabilization) and control the time lapse, microphone, audio mode and video quality. Pictures and videos recorded in bright daylight are great as the F 2.2 ability in the 8 MP camera allows more light to filter in, you will find very slight blurring, which is to be expected. In the normal shots, only the back ground gets blurred. The camera does have slight problems tracking objects and might not be able to focus too well. Shots captures indoors are sharp and the night mode does a far better job of capturing more light.
