Tablets Prepare Children Better Than Text Books!

Tablet is a mobile cum computer. It is a device that has a display, speaker, camera and battery all in the same unit. Tablet is a touch screen device which is available in several sizes ranging from 7 inches to 12 inches. They are often furnished with microphones, sensors, rear and front cameras and a lot more. You can use them either with your finger or a stick like device which is known as a stylus. A tablet is a little larger than a smart phone and a lot smaller than a laptop in size. This makes it easily portable. A tablet generally fits into your bag and palm with ease.

Tablets have now a day’s replaced laptops and text books in schools and colleges. With several options in it to connect to the internet, a tablet makes accessing the information extremely easy and fast. Tablets are much lighter than the text books and can hold more lessons than a normal text book. A student has to carry about 10 – 12 textbooks to school for various subjects and since certain subjects like math and English have various textbooks, it just adds to the weight the students have to carry. An average tablet will have a memory of 8 to 64 GB, which means that it can hold about thousand books at once in its memory space. Furthermore it saves a lot of paper and printing cost. E-textbooks save a lot of money. Too many students use books that are 7-10 years old with outdated material. Tablets are especially beneficial for subjects that constantly change, such as biology or computer science. The advancing technology motivate the students to learn faster as they are fascinated with operating the new gadget, be it for playing or learning. Not only is using tablets instead on textbook god for the grownups but it is extremely beneficial for the toddlers also. They can learn their basics very well with graphics. As all of us know that pictorial memory lasts longer than the word memory.

A tablet is more useful than a textbook because you can easily connect it to the internet and use various websites to find out more information on a particular topic or a chapter. Not only will the student get all his or her lessons but will also be able to access the additional information if they want. This American culture has now been seen in a lot of Indian educational institutions as well and it has immensely benefitted the students.

For me, I guess Tablets are more of a boon than a curse because they ease work off, for the students as well as for the teachers. It is not practical to carry heavy books for all the subjects for the students and for the teachers they have to carry a textbook for all the standards. I believe that 3G Android tablets can soon replace the other study material and I would love to initiate this change.
