How Apps have Changed Our Lives

Smart phones and tablets are now an essential part of our lives. These gadgets are faster and more convenient than your standard phones, PC’s and laptops, the apps that we download and use is what makes them so useful.

Apps are defined as certain software that is designed to operate specifically on all versions or models of tablets, smart phones and mobile devices; the term app is a shorter version of Application Software. Apps are easily available through various platforms that distribute applications, the more established of them are the Google App Store, Blackberry App World, Apple App Store and the Windows Phone Store.

Apps can be easily downloaded onto your gadget; certain apps have to be bought while other apps are free. The prices differ according to the different smart phone manufacturers. Apps were initially designed for standard functions like email, contacts, calendar, productivity and information retrieval.

Today you can find apps that can be used for gaming, GPS, online shopping, banking, ticket purchases and the more recent health, fitness and medical purposes. In fact you can have an app for just about any product or service that you can think of, the number of apps also made their discovery a bit of a challenge.

This is why apps require things like reviews, recommendations, duration sources, magazines, blogs and services dedicated to app discovery. Apps however work differently on different devices; this will depend on the battery power, the processor, the hardware specifications, operating systems and the screen size.

Our society today is not very patient; we want to have whatever we need as quickly as possible. Apps deliver all the information that we need and we don’t have to wait for it. We can also use them to store a lot of information like catalogues, music and videos. Way back in 2009, only 23% were using smart phones, today however more than 35% own and use smart phones. This goes to show how useful apps are and why people are so eager to purchase a smart phone.

The apps that one can store on their smart phones ultimately offer some value to the user- apps can dramatically change the way you use your tablet or smart phone. Apps are a great way to personalize and interact with our phones; they also allow you to store and modify data using complex calculations like graphs or charts.

Basic functions like text messaging, calling or GPS can be integrated with you online social media accounts or camera through the use of apps.  Apps do not always require an internet connection, while some apps can only work online, there are many others that function offline.

Businesses too have realized the importance that apps have in helping them operate. Businesses can use apps to promote a brand, service or product and stay in touch with their consumers. This brings our attention to another kind of app; this is the e-commerce app. These apps allow people to shop for products online and purchase them as well.

There are apps that let you manage your life like Ever note, and then you can read E-books on the Play Books app. These are just some of the more popular apps only on the Google Play Store, image how many more options you have on the Apple App Store and other major application distribution platforms.

Certain apps are free, like most of the live wall papers available on the Google App Store. Most app developers offer a free trial version of their apps that have to be paid for later on.

The tablet or the smart phone that we use is only as valuable as the apps that we have installed on them. This makes the storage feature on these gadgets on them very important. To know more about gadgets that can add value to your life, visit: www.oplustech.com

Technological Change and the Environment

Technology has impacted the way we live and the environment in which we live. Technology is something that has become a building block of our lives. We use some form of technology no matter where we are and what we do. The direction and the rate at which technological changes take place have a strong influence on the all economic and social activity.

New technologies that have been developed may either lead to or facilitate an increased level of pollution; they can also replace and even mitigate those activities that may be causing the pollution. Technological change is a big aspect of environmental economics, the damage taking place because of many environmental issues like global warming, climate changes are long term, irreversible and have a big impact.
Since these issues are very big, it sheds light on how important it is to develop technologies in an environmentally way. Some of the technology that has been developed is built around a concept that is environmentally conscious.

Today we have clocks that run on water, thus eliminating the need to use standard batteries, biodegradable cosmetics, organic foods and many more. Technology is useful to us as it offers us a number of benefits in terms of increased reach, flexibility and speed.

Certain technologies keep us connected in a network where we can easily access loads of information and each other. Using technology advertisers and marketers have a means through which they can react to changes in market demand.
Technology can be very useful to us and they can be the best green choices as well. Introducing computer systems in our work places and homes, we have eradicated the need to use paper and files. The wastage of paper has always been a big issue leading to deforestation; technology has turned out to be the right answer to this.

Technology has been blamed for most of the pollution that we have today, but it can also provide the solution for us. For example, scientists have discovered new methods of generating energy using renewable energy sources like water, air etc. these new methods involve wind turbines, water dams, solar panels that use sun, water and wind to create hydro and solar power. These have gradually replaced usage of fossil fuels, the mining of which has also created global warming, climate changes.

While these are the large scale changes that are being improved and implemented, there are the smaller things that individuals can implement. These refer to the changes that we make in our consumption patterns- we reuse as much as we possibly can, make smarter choices when we purchase electronic appliances.

Tablets are just one of these many changes; there are many advantages that tablets offer. Saving paper is just one of them, for example, we can store photos, read E-Books and send emails. We use a tablet to do the same things that we can do on a computer, therefore reducing the amount of energy that we would consume when using a computer.

We can store many books and take notes on tablets and smart phones; this also reduces the need to carry multiple books. They are also lightweight and this makes them a popular choice with many students.

Technology can give us access to a world of information; this is another benefit that they can offer the fields of education, medicine, science and research. In fact, they help us to cut down on emission and improve efficiency, making them a more popular option for many consumers.

Certain technologies may revolutionize the way we live in the future. A perfect example of this is the energy efficient products that many people are choosing to buy, and then there are the cars that operate on cleaner fuel and electricity.

Technology has had both a positive and a negative impact on our world. Certain technologies have actually benefitted the environment. Tablets and smart phones allow us to carry our world with us and have helped to reduce the amount of paper that we consume. To know more on how you can save the earth, visit www.oplustech.com
